Measuring Length
Learning Objective :
9
To enhance the knowledge of measuring length.
What You Need :
• Deck of cards • Ruler
• Table • Paper
• Pencil
Procedure : 9
Step 1 : Select a table to use for the game.
Step 2 : Decide which player will keep score and give the scorekeeper a paper
and a pencil.
Step 3 : Divide the deck of cards evenly among the players.
Step 4 : Players take a turn sliding a card along the table.
The goal is to slide the card so that it is as close as possible to the edge
of the table.
Step 5 : Players should use a ruler to measure how far their cards are from the
edge of the table and then tell the scorekeeper their measurement. Use
either centimetres or inches, but be consistent.
If a card falls off of the table it incurs a 20 unit (centimetres or inches)
penalty, as its distance from the edge of the table cannot be easily
measured.
Step 6 : Play for as many rounds as you would like.
Step 7 : At the end of game, have each player add up their measurements to find
their total measurements. The player with smallest collective
measurement wins the game.
