In a sentence, the subject and the verb have to be in agreement. The verb must
agree with the subject in number as well as in person.
G The subject and verb must agree in number.
G If the subject is singular, the verb must also be singular.
For example:
The boy is talking .

G If two singular nouns joined by and refer to the same person, the verb remains
singular.
For example:
My mentor and friend is Ram.
Both referring to Ram
G If two singular nouns joined by and express one idea the verb remains
singular.
For example:
Bread and butter is his favourite breakfast.
G If the singular subjects are preceeded by each or every , the verb remains
singular.
For example:
Every boy and every girl was given a book to read.
