Social Nature of Animals
Many animals show social behaviour. They
live in groups as it is more beneficial for
them. By living in groups they feel safe.
Colony of Ants
Ant colony consists of underground nests
with chambers connected to one another by Anthill
tunnels.
Most ants make their nest in soil. Some species
dig only two or three holes while others dig a
maze of long tunnels and numerous chambers.
Ants may build a hill on the earth over the
entrance to their underground nest (this is called
an anthill ) or may pile a mound of twigs and

grass over it.
Honeybees
Honeybees live together in a beehive. There is
one queen bee, some male bees (called
drones) and many worker bees in a beehive.
The queen bee lays eggs. The male bees help
the queen bee to reproduce. The duty of the Beehive
worker bees is to build and clean the hive.
They also collect nectar from flowers.
* The factors that determine the types of houses people live in are the
location and climate of the place, the construction materials available
locally and the economic conditions of the people.
* Kutcha houses made up of mud, straw, bamboo are found in villages.
* Bungalows and multi-storeyed buildings called flats are commonly seen in
cities.
