Eggs and Meat
We get eggs from hens and ducks.
Eggs are rich source of proteins,
vitamins, iron and phosphorus.
We also get meat from animals.
Egg Giving Animals
Meat is obtained from animals
like goat and sheep. People who
eat flesh of animals are called
non-vegetarians. Flesh of goat,
sheep and fish is popular among
non-vegetarians.
Meat Giving Animals
Rearing of silkworms and getting silk threads from them is termed as ‘sericulture’.
Silk
We get silk from silkworms. Silkworms
grow on mulberry trees. Their pupae are
killed for getting the cocoons. Those
cocoons are processed to get silk thread.
Then these threads are given attractive
colours and are woven into beautiful
clothes.
Processing of Cocoons
Leather
We get leather from animals. Leather is obtained from the skin of dead
animals, like goats, buffaloes and camels. Leather is used for making shoes,
bags, belts, purses, jackets, etc. It is not good to kill animals to obtain
leather.
