H Directions H Location of Places
H Direction in a Map
There are four main directions—East,
West, North, South.
When we want to find out where a
place is, we find it out by its
direction.
When we go somewhere, we need to know the directions to find
the way, we talk about how far it is and on what side it is.
We may say that the place is on the right or left or up or down.
These all are called the directions.
Directions can also be given proper names they are— north, south,
east and west. These are the four main directions.
North and south are the directions opposite to each other. East and
west are the directions opposite to each other.
Finding Out the Directions
Stretch your arms and stand facing
the rising sun.
Now, your face is in the east
direction and your back is in the west
direction. Your right hand is in the
south direction and your left hand is
in the north direction.
