8 Automatic : Most of its algorithm is automatic and computer is most

famous for its automatic characteristic.
8 Speed : Speed is the another great characteristic of computer. It can

work very fast. A task which humans need a year to
complete, the computer only needs a day.

8 Accuracy : A computer can calculate accurately, in fact this accuracy is
the most important reason that’s why it is more popular
nowadays in every field.

8 Diligence : This kind of characteristic can be found in all kinds of
machines. A computer can work restless. It does not need

rest like human or any other animal.
8 Versatility : A computer has a wide range of uses in our life. It can be

used for various purposes.

8 Power : This is one of the most important characteristics of a
computer. Day by day capability of data storage of computer
is increasing. Now, general size of hard disk is one terabyte.

8 No IQ : A computer has no IQ. It can’t work by itself without any
command given by human.

Applications of Computer

Computer has played very important role in the sector of work. Without computer it is
very difficult to perform our tasks. Large number of activities are dependent on
computer in our daily life. They are used at home, hospitals, schools etc.

The various application areas of computers are described below.

Communication

Electronic mail (e-mail) continues to be the most popular means of communication,
because it allows family members to communicate with one another and helps to stay
in contact with friends and co-workers.

Sports

A computer can be used to watch a game, view the scores, improve the game, play

games (like chess, car racing etc.) and also to create games. They are also used for
the purposes of training players.
