Software
A set of programs that is designed to perform a specific task is known as
software.
There are mainly two types of software. These are –
8 System Software 8 Application Software
System Software
A system software controls overall functioning of the computer. It acts as an
interface between the user and the hardware.
For example– Operating system (OS) such as LINUX, UNIX etc.
Application Software
An application software is a set of one or more programs, designed to
solve a specific problem or perform a specific task. It helps to do
calculations, draw pictures, play movies etc. For example– Microsoft Word,
Paint, Google Docs, Microsoft Excel etc.

8 Computer uses some programs to process the inputs.
8 Control unit controls the flow of input, process and output of the computer.
8 The memory unit is the principal storage of the computer.
8 Primary memory is also called the main memory.
